A pair of passive bookshelf speakers for someone who already has an amplifier and wants the best stereo image they can get from a small cabinet. They need stands or a solid shelf and a decent amp — they will not work on their own.
What you get
- KEF's Uni-Q driver puts the 25 mm tweeter in the middle of the 130 mm bass cone, so the sound comes from one point and the stereo image stays put wherever you sit.
- Metamaterial Absorption Technology soaks up the sound radiated backwards from the tweeter, so the treble is cleaner than the cabinet size would suggest.
- Rated 40–100 W, so a modest integrated amplifier drives them properly and you are not forced into expensive amplification.
- 8 ohm nominal impedance, so they are an easy load for mainstream amplifiers and receivers.
- Only 20 cm wide and 30 cm tall, so they fit a real bookshelf rather than needing a dedicated wall.
- Bass reflex port at the rear, so pulling them a little further from the wall lets you tune how much bass you get.
